I’m trying to draw out my morning as long as possible. I’m still in my pajamas, a little funky from sweating while I slept, sipping my mineral water and working my way through a slice of Marie Callender’s sour cream apple pie (a lie, since the recipe doesn’t contain any sour cream whatsoever). The pie is really tasty although I can guarantee that my mom’s is much better. Guess I’m not a fan of huge apple slices.
Ah, there I go again…finding a tangent to stray off on. Anything to prolong the inevitable. I don’t know why, but this year I’m just super not looking forward to working at the fair. Part of it might have to do with the fact that my body got pissed off and decided this would be the optimal time to menstruate. I also think part of it has to do with just being plum tired after a long week at my regular job and not necessarily looking forward to dealing with all the amazingly childish antics that always seem to happen at the fair.
At least at my normal job, if someone loses their mind or gets whiny, there are tons of people who will deal with it because we all work on similar planes of thought. If Sean suddenly goes off his nut and starts crapping on over ridiculous changes he feels should be made, our boss is there to slap his bitch up and tell him to get over it.
Not at the fair. No siree. The man in charge is a nutcase, plain and simple. Not only is he a nutcase, he’s an incompetent nutcase. I knew this long before I even started working there. I saw and heard the crap he pulled year after year, and even at my tender young age I couldn’t help wondering why in the hell nobody had fired his sorry ass. I still wonder! Even when someone has a contract in place, if they cannot make sound decisions they are most definitely in need of early contract termination. WTF people? We do it all the time at work! Dear lord.
But then I have to remember, this is a small town, with even smaller people who are sitting on the fair board of directors, and the entire thing is owned, operated, and overseen by the State of California. And everything becomes crystal clear at that point. You’d think anything that the government, the absolute power in this fair state, has its fingers in should be handled most efficiently and expeditiously, right? Wrong. This is California. The only time we handle things expeditiously is if it means more money for the state. You think I’m joking?
*sigh*
Sorry for the boring semi-rant today, folks. I promise I’ll become more interesting over the next few days, if I have the strength to blog after performing manual labor for 12-16 hours a day. At least the nice bonus is that I’ll continue to lose weight while I do all this!
Which reminds me…
Current weight: 219 lbs.
Measurements: 44-45-43 (horrifying, I know…all that pilates work is just now kicking in, expect to see at least the 45 shrinking over the next couple of months)
